changeHave you ever heard the term,”‘kicking a dead horse”?  This is what I’m getting at with this blog, we’re all guilty of it, and the success of our home based business is reliant on us excepting it.  Here is what I’m saying in short, if the marketing concept you are using isn’t making money, change it.

I’m not really saying to dump the marketing style, but take another look at it.  Why is it not working?  Change parts of it until you see results.  If you never see results, then move on to another style of marketing.  You’d be surprised at what a small change here or there may do for you.  Look at PPC marketing for instance.  A low click rate, may be a bad advertisement that is not catching the eye of what is being searched for in the search engine.  Maybe you have a lot of clicks, and no opt in.  This may tell you the landing page is not doing its job.  Maybe the wording, the video, or the landing page itself has nothing to do with the question the person searching the net is looking for.  In this case change your landing page to hold the interest.  This concept works with any marketing approach, but you have to use common sense to make it work.

Remember there is a lot of competition, so you have to think fast to get ahead.  Treat it like you are in hurry, you want to beat the competitor to the punch.  Tweak, change or whatever you want to call it.  If you are getting no results, quit “kicking a dead horse”, and change what you are doing.  This is how you get results!

The Adword Dilema, How Do I Attract Customer Interest

payperclickUsing Adwords is not as easy as just putting up an advertisement and your done.   There is a lot more to this than  you would think.  There is a lot of trial and error and just testing the internet to see what gets a response and what doesn’t.  Your affiliate marketing depends on you getting good at this process to help you make money.

If you are not familiar with Perry Marshall, you need to be, particularly his book ‘The Definitive Guide to Google AdWords’.  He just came out with the 2010 addition.  Although it is a how to book for Google, you can use much of the techniques for any other PPC marketing campaign provider you  choose.  The main thing you must do when you design an ad is to think like the customer you are trying to find.  What are they asking themselves as they search?  Design your ad to answer their question.  This concept may not come easy at first, but it really does work.  Try it test it and see what happens.

So when you create an Pay Per Click ad, don’t just assume that what you see coming up on your searches is a good ad.  Would you open it, does it answer the questions you may have running through your head on a subject?  Once you answer your potential customers questions, you may have a sale.

Have You Been Google Smacked? Want To Know How To Tell?

googleIf you are familiar with PPC marketing, you are familiar with Google Adwords.  It is a fact to any internet marketer who has used Adwords, that Google doesn’t like us.  I use Yahoo Sponsored Search also, and love it.  But this is not about Yahoo.  I have been using Adwords quite a bit and recently found out just what the Google Smack is all about.

I have been studying hard, a book called the ‘The Definitive Guide to Adwords’ by Perry Marshall.  This is really the ultimate book for anyone wanting to learn and up their knowledge of pay per click marketing.  As an affiliate marketer I place my ads in this fashion.  After tweaking my ads trying to get them better and better, I realized my score stayed real low.  I was very confused about this, so I started to look into this further.  My score said my landing page was poor, and in fact  it is not.  Here is the fact, if  Google realizes you are a home based business  with an affiliate link they slap you, and make it hard to advertise.  It’s not really fair, but it is reality.  All I could do is slap back by closing my account.  Anyway, if you didn’t know what this was, after reading this, you will.

Remember there are other search engines you can use that will appreciate your business, and I suggest you use them.  I won’t give Google my money for their service again, after all it defeats my efforts when they pull this game.
