If you are familiar with PPC marketing, you are familiar with Google Adwords. It is a fact to any internet marketer who has used Adwords, that Google doesn’t like us. I use Yahoo Sponsored Search also, and love it. But this is not about Yahoo. I have been using Adwords quite a bit and recently found out just what the Google Smack is all about.
I have been studying hard, a book called the ‘The Definitive Guide to Adwords’ by Perry Marshall. This is really the ultimate book for anyone wanting to learn and up their knowledge of pay per click marketing. As an affiliate marketer I place my ads in this fashion. After tweaking my ads trying to get them better and better, I realized my score stayed real low. I was very confused about this, so I started to look into this further. My score said my landing page was poor, and in fact it is not. Here is the fact, if Google realizes you are a home based business with an affiliate link they slap you, and make it hard to advertise. It’s not really fair, but it is reality. All I could do is slap back by closing my account. Anyway, if you didn’t know what this was, after reading this, you will.
Remember there are other search engines you can use that will appreciate your business, and I suggest you use them. I won’t give Google my money for their service again, after all it defeats my efforts when they pull this game.

We all recognize that there’s plenty of money to be made on the Internet. It seems that everyday you hear about a new entrepreneur turning a simple, practical idea into a veritable goldmine. But the odds of your coming up with a revolutionary new idea that sets the Internet afire is relatively low. Most startup ventures get ahead by partnering with affiliate sites.
There’s an old saying that you’re undoubtedly familiar with: If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. Logic dictates that setting up a completely independent online business entity is infinitely more difficult than using a proven money making system. Affiliates do most of the work for you – they provide the inventory and knowledge necessary to make a business plan work. Most of your efforts can then be directed toward marketing.
I was watching a video today with some very smart internet marketing gurus, Frank Kern and John Reese. They were being interviewed by the incredible Tony Robbins. The interview was concerning why people buy marketing products but never follow through. There was a subject within the conversation that really hit home for me, and I wanted to share this fact with other home business owners.
The reason that many affiliate marketers fail at their new internet business is because of a belief system that they have programed in their head. Most people will join with a short term excitement, approach it wrong, and lose the excitement, then fail and drop out. They didn’t fully believe they could become a successful marketer. Let me give you an example of something you may take for granted. You know that if you get on a bike you could ride it perfect, balance, the whole nine yards. Do you remember when you were a child, and you had to learn? Once you started to have some success at balance for just a few feet you realized you could do it, and never questioned it again. The process can further go into explaining why a power lifter can lift to his limit before failing. It’s all about believing you can do something. If you don’t believe you can, it won’t happen. The most successful marketers had to start from ground one also, and once they saw the potential, and the actions they took brought them the success they desired, it was a no brainer, and they could make money anytime they wanted.
I think it’s easy to see where I’m going with this. If you don’t believe in yourself then you’ve failed right out of the starting gate. You must build confidence within, keep educating your mind so that you have no reason to doubt your true potential.
95% of new affiliates that start a home business have no idea what they are doing. Most new businesses are missing the crucial part of their birth since the up line does nothing to help them. Some newbies enter thinking all they have to do is recruit and they are done. I’m afraid it’s not that easy. It is impossible to recruit when you don’t know how to begin. Once you get past the point where you learn to start building your opt in list, it is important to call them, and this is what most beginners want to avoid and since their up line wasn’t taught any different, there is no up stream support.
Just because someone opts into your capture page does not mean they want to join your business. You actually need to perform your own interview, not a sales call, but a real interview to see if they are the kind of person that would make a good partner in your business. You need to pick up the phone and call. Once you find new people that work as partners in your affiliate business, and they choose to join you, you must be prepared to work with them, and help them to start out on the right foot. If they see no progress, make no money etc, they will become dead weight to you, and shortly drop out of the business.
It is important to start your people out correctly, so they can duplicate the way you trained them, and do the same for the people they recruit in their internet business. This is how huge organizations are built. This technique will create a well oiled machine.
I know one of the biggest mistakes a new internet marketer will ever make is to market the business to their prospects. It is very rare that anyone is actually looking for an internet business to begin with. Most of the people out there are looking for marketing solutions because a majority of them are failing.
You must position yourself as an expert marketer by offering solutions to the problems of your market. I have found that most people are already in their own home based business and are not looking for another. You can attract them by showing that you are an expert in your field, you will have a better chance of them following you into your main business, or distributorship. You can then train them to a system or method that is duplicatable so they will be able to enjoy the results of their success. When you are viewed as an industry leader, it is easy to find people that are willing to follow you. At this point, they will actually call you wanting to be part of your organization, and not the other way around.
The bottom line is, in todays affiliate marketing world, character goes a long way in determing your position of success in this market place. If you think that you will succeed by offering your business before your system, you have already failed.
Originally, as we all know, Affiliate Marketing was based on trying to sponsor your friends and family, through a method of disturbing them and trying to get them to motivational and distributor meeting, which eventually scared them away. You had to bother people until they couldn’t stand it no more. This method does not work for today’s home based business market.
Today, it’s the internet that your business must appeal to. If you market your products, you have already failed. Your prospects are going to be sold on your knowledge and skills of the industry before they will even want to know about your product. This is known as attraction marketing. Nobody wants to be sold, but once they have found trust in you through your expertise in the field, they will come running to you wanting to join your down line, and hence your internet business will grow! This is how you make money.
This marketing approach has everything to do with the fact that there is so much safety placed on the consumer by trying to protect them from all the spam and unsolicited advertising they receive on a daily basis. These are uninvited guests. Essentially, your goal is to become an invited guest. The only way to get into the door is by following this method.
Do your realize that the worst thing you can do for your internet business is to actually advertise products to your customers? This sounds kind of crazy, but with all the competition, your future customer does not want to be sold. They are constantly getting e-mails from home business owners trying to sway them to buy this or that, and quite honestly they have lost the sale before they even started.
The correct approach these days is to prove your knowledge and expertise in the field by offering solutions. You can keep them interested by sharing experiences and information that is helpful. I’ve seen a lot of great examples of this on various videos by internet marketers that I follow. What’s great is, it’s actually an easy approach, and it’s a lot of fun to do. If you take an experiment or an internet marketing approach that you have tried, you can white board it, video tape it and put it out on the internet for people to view. Attach it to your blog, and never even advertise your product once. I’ve seen some that leave you in suspense because they don’t let you see the whole video until you buy the product, what a neat approach.
It is true that people like to spend money, but only when they like or are interested in something. By sharing your knowledge, you gain their interest in you, then once again you enter the trust zone, and your ability to sell has now become greater. It’s cool that success can be gained this way, and even better yet when you don’t have to be a sales person.
Do you ever wonder if you make your internet marketing approach harder than it should be? It might just be common sense that you need. I was sitting on a park bench at a beautiful college campus today, and was brainstorming about the typical things that a home business owner may be overlooking. Thinking about all the e-mail marketing campaigns I get on a daily basis, what is it the gurus are doing that may help the beginner get past the basics for their own business?
Here’s what I noticed, the best of the best are sending out mail with great headlines. They send you to the blog site they moderate and share with you a great video. The videos are always interesting, some very funny. They keep your attention as a good video marketing campaign should. They give you the image of them being the expert in the field, particularly when they are marketing a product they have created themselves. They also make it look as though you have a limited time to make the purchase or there will be nothing left. Then they bribe you to the opt in area with an offer for buying early.
I was reading up on one particular guy who feels that the best way to gain trust from your possible customer is to make them feel comfortable by getting you to the blog first, this way you are not scaring them away by throwing the product in their face. If you eliminate the feeling of being sold, it creates a certain comfort level, and a level of trust. Isn’t this the way you would want to be treated?
You may have heard horror stories in the past about the risks associated with online business. It’s true that not all Web-based enterprises succeed, but that’s just the nature of capitalism. If you were to set up a brick-and-mortar hardware store right across the street from Lowe’s or Walmart, would you really expect to stay in business for long? One of the keys to success is coming up with practical ideas for a home based business.
This means doing your homework by researching the market you intend to enter. You can gauge just how crowded the hardware industry is by running a series of Google searches. That will probably make you think twice about pursuing a career in screwdriver and wrench retail. Don’t stop researching until you find a field with less competition and more potential for growth.
